This corner home in a close-in suburb featured a large addition at the side which reduced the useful outdoor space and function for family use. The goal of the design was to create intimate outdoor living areas with strong visual/physical connections to the indoor rooms. Today, efficient use of space and layering of plant materials create privacy and the illusion of a spacious garden, with a seat-height lily pool as the focal point. Significant site erosion issues were solved by use of subsurface drainage and drywells.
