Our practice is comprised of a talented and qualified staff of landscape architects and administrators with over 30 years of combined experience. Our mission is to provide personalized and professional service to each of our clients.
Clinton & Associates’ founding principal, Sandra Youssef Clinton, FASLA is an accomplished landscape architect and horticulturist with over thirty-five years of experience in mixed-use, retail, commercial, institutional, and private residential design. Her firm has won countless awards for their innovative use of building materials, acute understanding of outdoor scale, and extraordinary expertise and approach to planting design and plant culture. Using sustainable practices, Sandy integrates her passion for plants and her background in horticulture and plant science with her innate talents as a designer of dramatic, contemporary, and seasonally-changing landscapes.
Sandy launched Clinton & Associates in 1998, and continues to build meaningful landscapes and long-term client relationships. Her work is strongly influenced by her lifelong relationships with Brazilian landscape architect, Roberto Burle Marx, and Philadelphia-based, Conrad Hamerman. She spent the first 14 years of her career as Design Lead with Oehme, van Sweden & Associates in Washington, DC. Echoes of these influential designers and mentors show up in the bold planterly approaches she expresses in each design. Her love of Monet, Van Gogh, and other impressionist painters, and her own adventures in encaustic painting, collage, and photography, influence the painterly landscapes that are her firm’s trademark.
Sandy was recently awarded the prestigious Landscape Design Award from the American Horticultural Society; she is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects; and she serves on the Stewardship Council of The Cultural Landscapes Foundation. Sandy is a nationally respected lecturer and is a visiting critic at the University of Maryland and The University of Virginia. She was recently keynote speaker for the Davidson Horticulture Society’s Annual Conference and at the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. firstname.lastname@example.org
